UC Eco-Living is a series of free, fun, interactive and informative workshops run by the UC Sustainability Office to help UC staff and students live in a more environmentally friendly way.

 

A series of Earthquake Response Workshops are running in Term 1 2011 as a response to the February 22nd earthquake. These Future Proofing workshops start on April 12th 2011, click here for more information.

 

Eco-my-flat 2011 Workshops

Eco-my-flat Workshops - everyone is welcome not just eco-flatters!
Tuesdays from 5-6pm and 6:30-7:30pm
, in E120 (Engineering Common Room - enter the Engineering building through the main entrance)
Eco-my-flat workshops are a series of fun, useful and practical workshops held as part of the Eco-my-flat competition where student flats compete to become the most eco-friendly flat! By making positive and sustainable changes in the way we live we can help lessen our environmental impact. These workshops are designed to teach some of the changes we can make to become more sustainable based around broad topics. Below is the timetable for the workshops, we hope you can join us!

Eco-Living Workshops 2010Eco-living

UC Eco-Living is a series of free, fun, interactive and informative workshops run by the UC Sustainability Office to help UC staff and students live in a more environmentally friendly way.

 

In Term 4 these will be held during Thursday lunchtimes, 12:10-1pm (except for the workshop on breadmaking, which will be from 1-2pm).

The details for this spring series are:

Thursday 16 September: Brewing Beer, Okeover Community Garden, 12:10-1pm
Rev. Tom Innes will be doing a "mini mash". This is an extract based brew with specialty grains and hops added.

Thursday 23 September: Make Your Own Eco Body Care products, Okeover Community Garden, 12:10-1pm
Sarah Campagnolo returns with a hands on workshop on making your own body care products, using herbs fresh from the garden.

Thursday 30 September:All About Herb Teas, Okeover Community Garden, 12:10-1pm
Keeping with the herb theme, Averil Halliday comes back to the garden to teach us about the benefits and uses of herb teas, with lots of opportunities for sampling!

Thursday 7 October: Breadmaking, Facilities Management staffroom, 1:10-2pmpm
Gaby Montejo and others will show us how to make our own fantastic sour dough breads.

Thursday 14 October (TBC): Vegan Cooking
Watch this space to see if we fire up the famous pizza oven for an end of semester fiesta!
