Eco-my-flat Competition and Workshops 2011!

Eco My Flat

Update following the Feb 22nd earthquake: The eco-my-flat competition was due to start on February 28, but has been postponed until the second and third terms.
Now running from May 9 to August 12, in response to recent events, the 2011 competition will incorporate an element of survivalism with an extra workshop added on preparing emergency kits and collecting and storing water. We’re hoping that our resourceful flats will not only excel in the area of emergency preparation, but will be able to teach us a thing or two as well!
One of our first tasks once we were allowed back into our office, was to notify our wonderful eco-my-flat sponsors about the postponement, and it was a real lift to our spirits to receive such an overwhelming response of support from these eco-friendly businesses. Check out our sponsors’ page at www.sustain.canterbury.ac.nz/ecomyflat/sponsors.shtml and if you or someone you know is interested in participating in eco-my-flat sign up here. Sign ups will be open from 18th April until 8th May.

Eco-My-Flat is going to Punakaiki! (21st Dec 2010)Te Nikau

We have confirmation that our world-famous Eco-my-flat competition for 2011 will be offering a first prize trip to the winning flat to Punakaiki on the West Coast, where they'll stay at the beautiful Te Nikau Retreat. Nestled in the bush and right by the beach, this is a sensational spot that we know the winners are going to love. And to get there, KiwiRail have generously sponsored travel to Greymouth aboard the TranzAlpine train for the lucky winners, with the lovely folk at Intercity providing the bus trip from Greymouth to Punakaiki. What an amazing road trip this will be!

There are almost 30 sponsors so far and we can promise that the workshops during the competition are going to be great fun and very practical, with of course lots of awesome and useful giveaways from sponsors.

Keep checking back for updates on the competition and if you think you'd like you flat to get involved in this awesome and inspiring competition click here.
