Eco-bathroom

Bathrooms have lots of eco-potential. We can use less water in baths, showers and flushing tiolets, and cleaning products can all be environmentally friendly so we don't pollute our waterways. If we're clever we can re-use bathroom water in the garden, creating stronger links between the parts of our flat ecosystem.

Scroll over the numbers to see what you can do to eco up your bathroom.

eco-bathroom Eco-showering etiquette: Having shorter showers equals using less power and less water, which in the long run can add up to huge savings on consumption of water, power and save you money on electricity bills! There are shower timers available, or have a clock in your bathroom so you're aware of how long showers are taking. Installing a low-flow shower head can reduce water consumption. Using a bucket to collect water while the shower heats up can save a few litres of water that can be used to water the garden. And if flatmates shower one after the other in the mornings, it can save having to wait for the shower to heat up each time. Eco body care and personal hygiene products: Using products that are more eco-friendly, natural and have less packaging, are a whole lot better for the environment in terms of pollution, waste and consumption. Try making your own beauty products, using less, substituting smaller packaged products for bulk or refillable options, or just stop using the ones you just don't really need! There are also alternative eco-friendly personal hygiene options out there, research your options!
