Sustainability Advocate
Matt Morris has a Ph.D. in social and environmental history from the School of History at the University of Canterbury.
The University of Canterbury (UC) Sustainability Advocate, acts as a catalyst for the University achieving its socio-ecological sustainability objectives. This includes:
- Providing a whole-of-university approach to the advancement of sustainability planning and action
- Providing sustainability expertise and advocacy to assist departments, staff and students, groups and individuals to progress towards socio-ecological sustainability
- Providing a contact and liaison point on and off campus for University sustainability matters
- Initiating and managing projects that spur greater understanding and engagement in sustainability concepts amongst staff and students and that assist the University’s pursuit of socio-ecological sustainability in all its activities
Examples of this work include the ‘eco-my-flat’ competition, the Eco-Living Workshops, the UC Eco-Office Programme, sustainable events and coordinating the Okeover Community Garden.
