Bus

The University of Canterbury has buses running every few minutes from plenty of stops around campus, making bussing an obvious choice for those who live close to a bus route and more than 5km way from campus. Check out Metroinfo’s interactive map to see if the routes below are close to you, or let their online journey planner figure it out for you.

This is available online for all bus routes at Metroinfo. Alternatively, printed bus timetables for selected routes are available at the Sustainability notice boards (Central and Science Lecture Theatre blocks and Engineering School main entrance near the cafe), level 2 of the Central Library near the lending area or, for a full selection of printed timetables, see under the main stairs at UCSA.

Real-time bus arrival information

Real-time bus arrival information

As well as having real-time info at most stops, you can now check bus arrival times in real time online or via your cellphone (if you have a browser). This info is also on the bus monitors inside the campus-side entrance to UCSA and in the Central Library near the returns area.

Metrocard

MetroCards - cheaper, easier travel

MetroCards are free electronic pre-pay discount cards for use on Christchurch buses. You save 25% on the cash fare, and get unlimited travel options.Visit MetroInfo for more information, and pick up an application form from the timetable display under the main stairs at the UCSA.

Bikes on busses

Bikes on busses

Bike racks are now fitted on many of busses on the Metro routes, including 3 Airport - Sumner via Avonhead and 21 Ilam - Mt Pleasant, which both service UC. It's free to use the bike racks if you're taking the bus.
