Priority parks
Any two or more staff or students registered with UC Rideshare as a car-pool are eligible to use the rideshare priority parks on the days they car-pool together. The rideshare parks are situated on Forestry Rd, Engineering Rd, in the Laws car park, Fine Arts car park, and Zoology carpark.

In order to use the rideshare priority parks, your car-pool must:
i)
only use the
parks on the days you do actually car-pool;
ii)
display clearly
at least two current Rideshare cards on the car's dashboard;
iii)
display a valid UC parking permit.
iv) If you arrive between 8 am and 11 am Monday to Friday and use
a rideshare park, two or more people must get out of the car.
A failure to comply with these conditions will be considered a breach of UC Rideshare's terms and conditions and will be dealt with according to the University of Canterbury's parking regulations. Note too that you are not necessarily guaranteed a car park in the rideshare priority parks.
I used UC Rideshare in last year. Is my permit card still valid?
No. Like student cards, new Rideshare permit cards are issued each year.
Addresses, lecture timetables, and other factors affecting your travel schedule
can change from year to year. To keep the carpool travel information as
accurate as possible, the Rideshare database is wiped at the end of each
year and the next year starts afresh.
If I join UC Rideshare, do I need to buy a UC parking permit?
Yes. However, you only need one parking permit per car and can register multiple cars on a permit so if you and your carpool partners only ever bring one car to campus, you only need one permit. If, on the other hand, you all individually drive your cars some days, then you will need multiple permits.
